NURSERY TECHNIQUE FOR TILAPIA (Oreocrhomis niloticus) IN EARTHEN PONDS

Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is a type of freshwater fish in Indonesia that has high economic value and is targeted to increase production and income of cultivators in Indonesia. This report aims to find out the nursery techniques of tilapia fry and determine the success rate consisting of the growth of length and weight as well as the survival of tilapia fry at the nursery stage carried out in an earthen pond. The results of observations on tilapia nursery in earthen ponds were known that the growth rate of length was 0.91-4.55 cm, while the growth rate of weight was 0.51-5.28 grams, and the survival rate (SR) was 76%, as well as the water quality temperature was 25.1°C-33.5°C while the pH was 6.5-9.7. This shows that when nursery in earthen ponds can support the growth rate of tilapia fry and is supported by optimal water quality parameters, then growth will increase and the survival rate will be high.
