Abstrak

This study aims to examine the management of the import process and the handling of Brahman
Cross (BX) cattle arrivals at PT Indo Prima Beef I, Central Lampung. A descriptive method was
used through field observations, interviews with company personnel, and document analysis. The
results show that the import process includes administrative licensing, cattle selection in Australia,
shipment via livestock vessels, quarantine period, and transfer to the feedlot. The handling of cattle
upon arrival involves pen preparation (cleaning, disinfection, and lime application), inspection of
unloading facilities, unloading via ramp, eartag and RFID installation, vaccination against FMD
and Septicaemia Epizootica, body weight measurement, initial health checks, and vitamin
administration. The implemented management procedures are considered effective in reducing
stress and disease risks in livestock while supporting the success of the fattening program. These
findings are expected to serve as a reference for managing cattle imports in accordance with animal
welfare and biosecurity standards.
