Performace of Peranakan Etawa (PE) And Saneen Goats At CV Sahabat Ternak Sleman Yogyakarta

Abstract

: Peranakan Etawa (PE) and Saanen goats are dairy goats with the highest milk production
compared to other dairy goats. The success of a dairy goat business really depends on the performace
of the goats. This research aims to determine the performace of PE and Saanen goats at CV. Friends
of Livestock Sleman Yogyakarta. The research was conducted at CV. Sahabat Ternak Kemirikebo,
Girikerto, Turi, Sleman, Yogyakarta from 8 February 2018 to 20 April 2018. Research data shows
that the body height of male PE goats is 94 cm and female 75 cm, while male Saanen goats are 97
cm and female 67 cm; the body weight of male PE goats is 67 kg and female 45 kg, while male
Saanen goats are 70 kg and female 47 kg; the udder circumference of female PE goats is 15 cm while
that of female Saanen goats is 12 cm; the body length of male PE goats is 86 cm and female 68 cm,
while male Saanen goats are 73 cm and female 56 cm; and the length of the horns of male PE goats
is 10 cm and female 13 cm, while male Saanen goats are 20 cm and female 15 cm. The conclusion
of this research is that the performace of PE and Saanen goats at CV Sahabat Ternak, Sleman,
Yogyakarta is quite good and in accordance with the standard characteristics of dairy goats.
