Abstract

Kailan (Brassicaceae) is a Chinese vegetable rich in minerals, protein, and vitamins. Demand for kailan continues to increase with population growth, but production of cruciferous vegetables, including kailan, in Indonesia has decreased by 6.97%, from 15,037,976 tons in 2022 to 13,990,053 tons in 2023. This decline is due to the reduction in productive land due to conversion to residential and industrial uses. One solution is to utilize ultisol soil, which is abundant in Indonesia, including in Lampung, covering an area of approximately 1.5 million hectares. However, ultisol soils face challenges such as low pH and physical properties, necessitating efforts to improve soil fertility, for example, with coffee husk compost, which can improve soil structure and provide nutrients. This study aims to determine the optimal dose of coffee husk compost to increase the growth and yield of kailan on ultisol soil. The research was conducted at the Horticultural Experimental Garden of Lampung State Polytechnic in June-July 2025 using a one-factor Randomized Block Design (RAK), namely the dose of coffee husk compost: 0 tons/ha (K1), 30 tons/ha (K2), 25 tons/ha (K3), 50 tons/ha (K4), 75 tons/ha (K5), and 100 tons/ha (K6), with 6 treatments and 4 replications. Data were analyzed by ANOVA and further tested at 5% BNT. The results obtained, a dose of coffee husk compost of 75 tons/ha (K5) had a very significant effect on the parameters of plant height, number of leaves, leaf width, fresh weight of the stover, dry weight of the stover, wet weight of the roots, dry weight of the roots
