Pengaruh Asam Askorbat terhadap Ketahanan Cekaman Garam Padi Gogo (Oryza Sativa L.) Varietas Situ Bagendit

Abstrak

The purpose of this study was to know whether ascorbic acid can increase the resistance ofupland rice varieties Situ Bagendit to salinity (Salt stress). This research was carried out inthe Laboratory of Plant Physiology, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics andNatural Sciences, University of Lampung in December 2014 in a 2x3 factorial experiment. Afactor: NaCl with 2 levels 0mM, and 25 mM. Factor B: ascorbic acid with 3 levels 0% w/m,10% w/v, 20% w/v. Each combination of treatment was repeated 4 times. Variables in thisstudy ware shoot length, fresh weight, dry weight, and total chlorophyll content. Data wasanalyzed using ANOVA at 5% significance level and proceed with the determination of asimple effect with LCD test at 5% significance level. The results showed that the growth ofseedling upland rice was better in salin condition (salt stress) than in non condition. Shootlength, fresh weight, dry weight, and total chlorophyll content ware higher in salin conditionthan in non salin condition. ascorbic acid lowers shoot length, fresh weight, dry weight, and total chlorophyll content both salin and non sallin condition.. The final conclusion was that of ascorbic acid 10% w/v and 20% w/v can not increase the growth of upland rice seedlingin salin condition (salt stress). Keywords: Upland Rice, Situ Bagendit, NaCl, Ascorbic Acid, Shoot Length, Fresh Weight, Dry Weight, Total Chlorophyll.
